Springfield (Sangamon) Mass Transit District’s Facilities Manager no longer employed –

SPRINGFIELD, IL. (ECWd) –

As of Sep 24, 2019, the Springfield Mass Transit District‘s Facilities Manager / Supervisor of Maintenance, Aaron Beck, is no longer employed at the District.

This came in a notice posted throughout the District’s offices (read it here).

We understand Mr. Beck had worked there for around 20 years, and this was a sudden, unannounced departure. Beck’s salary in 2018 was $88,267.00 with additional earned vacation days and sick leave.

The District’s Managing Director, Frank Squires, would not comment over the phone, so we do not know at this time why Beck is no longer employed at the District.

From the SMTD’s Facebook page, they typically send well-wishes on retirements (4 since June of this year) so we doubt that he left due to retirement.

We will submit FOIA requests to attempt to figure out the reason and will update this story when new information becomes available.
