DeKalb Township (ECWd) –
In our initial report (here) on DeKalb Township’s Shacklee purchases, we pretty much predicted what we would find after further public records were produced.
In the video, we predicted the Township joined Shacklee under “someone” – the now-former Supervisor’s wife, Jennifer Jeep Johnson, who is the current Supervisor:
- They did: “The Township does identify that Jennifer Johnson was the upline sponsor, the Township never had any downline“
We predicted they never set up a non profit company like the Supervisor told the board they would do:
- They didn’t set up any company, for profit or non profit
- Johnson stated, in a newspaper article, the Township was acting as a nonprofit distributor (but the FOIA response indicates that to be false)
We predicted that someone was paid for every purchase made from Shaklee:
- Jennifer Jeep Johnson admitted in the newspaper article that she received “points” from the purchases, but in a different article admits to receiving an estimated “couple hundred dollars“
- The Township also wrote checks to Shaklee, and was paid commissions from Shaklee
DeKalb Township wrote checks to Shaklee totaling $543.16 (here).
The Township received commission checks from Shaklee in the total amount of: $316.53 (even though the deposit slip only shows $316.46).
We also predicted that we would find things in the up-line and down-line of the Township’s Shaklee business – however, the Township could not find any agreements, and allegedly the Shaklee Corporation could not find any either. Therefore, we cannot describe what we believe would be found in the up and down lines of the Township without the records available to us. You would think that a corporation the size of Shaklee, they would keep better records.
We stand by our statement that a Township is not permitted to conduct public business in this fashion, and we suggest the Township Officials of Illinois get its act together and quit giving out awards for this type of activity.

Posted at 22:41h, 15 MarchSo was the commission that Shaklee paid to the Township put back into the Township’s budget, or was it pocketed by Ms. Johnson?

Posted at 21:31h, 16 MarchSo how do the products the purchased from Shaklee compare to other places they could have sourced them from? Would the rebate make them more affordable?

Posted at 22:28h, 15 MarchIt is hard to believe the Shaklee doesn’t keep records. The IRS requires them to issue 1099s for anyone that is paid more than $600. Someone needs to call the IRS fraud tip line.
