CARLINVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –

The Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor has sent a letter the Carlinville City Clerk, Mrs. Carla Brockmeier, asking that the city respond to the March 18, 2017, Freedom Of Information Act request for public records.

Carlinville has developed a history of not properly answering these requests for public records.

The law required they respond within 5 working days after receipt, and they failed.

This is a good start. It will be interesting to see how far the AG’s Office is willing to look in to this matter. In most cases the AG never pursues FOIA or Open Meetings matters too far.
