DuPage Co., IL. (ECWd) –
A simple Freedom Of Information Act request has been denied by the DuPage County FOIA Officer, and it isn’t the first time.
This request asked for the IRS Form W2s for all county-wide elected officials. We need this form to compare it to the published, and some still secret, compensation received by these elected officials. It will help up determine if the proper amount was reported to the IRS.
Incidentally, the first FOIA denial from the College of DuPage was over W2 forms.
What I requested clearly falls within Sections 2(c) and 2.5 of FOIA, clearly falls within Article VIII, Section 1 (c) of the Illinois Constitution, and are not specifically prohibited from disclosure by any federal or State law or any rules and regulations implementing any federal or State law .
It is a shame that public bodies cannot comply with the Freedom of Information Act when people ask for public records – instead they insist on taking up valuable time fighting the release of public records.
