Charleston, IL. (ECWd) –
The Charleston City Council held its regular meeting last night – the first meeting after passing the Resolution in support of Rauner’s Turn-Around Illinois plan – “Supporting Local Government Empowerment and Reform”
There were numerous members of the public, union members from Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State Representatives (Jeannie Ives and Reggie Phillips among them), a former State Representative (Brad Halbrook), and the Edgar County Watchdogs in attendance.
Most were opposed to the resolution and spoke to that effect. The State Representatives spoke in favor of it. Watchdogs spoke in favor of it, but asked that it be reconsidered at a future meeting where a public recital is completed prior to voting on it.
