Macon Co., Ill. (ECWd) –
Macon County Deputy Andrew Ziegler was taken into custody on December 15, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m. and charged with speeding more than 35 miles-per-hour over the speed limit, and fleeing and attempted eluding police. He was also held on suspicion of driving under the influence.
According to a press release issued by the Macon County Sheriff’s Department one day after the Vermilion County Watchdog posted the court docket, Zeigler was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed, refused to stop when found driving in the center median. He was later found stuck in a ditch by another deputy and taken into custody.
The Illinois State Police charged Ziegler with Driving Under the Influence and was cited and released.
Ziegler was immediately placed on administrative leave pending internal investigations and the resulting criminal and traffic charges.
