Dolton, Ill. (ECWd) –
On November 21, 2025, former Dolton Police Chief Lewis Lacey pled GUILTY to bankruptcy fraud.
Lacey was appointed to his position during the disastrous Mayoral reign of Tiffany Henyard.
We urge you to read both the guilty plea and the plea agreement to grasp the extent of what he pled guilty to.
From the Guilty Plea:
“By this Plea Agreement, defendant agrees to enter a voluntary plea of guilty to the following count of the superseding indictment: Count One, which charges defendant with devising a scheme to defraud, and for the purpose of executing and concealing the scheme and attempting to do so, filing a petition commencing a bankruptcy case under Title 11 of the United States Code, in violation of Tile 18, United States Code, Section 157(1).”
Essentially, Lacey tried hiding funds from creditors, and specifically to avoid a settlement agreement from a previous lawsuit, while at the same time trying to finish his bankruptcy without the courts knowing about another bank account both him and his wife were using.
From the 22-page Plea Agreement:
The government anticipates recommending a sentence of between 24 and 30 months’ imprisonment in addition to any supervised release and fine the Court may impose.
A Sentencing status hearing will be held on March 9, 2026.
