Thornton Township, Ill. (ECWd) –
The Thornton Township Meeting of the Electors was held in a packed gymnasium at the South Suburban Community College.
This meeting was called by the electors to elect a person to fill the vacancy of a township trustee who resigned several months ago.
The meeting started a few minutes late to accommodate those electors still coming in the doors.
Township Clerk opened the meeting at 6:18 p.m., Pledge of Allegiance was said, and Clerk called for nominations for a Moderator.
Prince Reed was elected by the township electors as Moderator and sworn in as Moderator by the Township Clerk.
Township Attorney read the rules for this meeting; rules were motioned, seconded, and voted in favor of unanimously.
Stephanie Wiedeman (not a Henyard supporter) was nominated and seconded.
A resident nominated himself, and there was no second.
Charles Rayburn was nominated and seconded.
Carol Cook (Supervisor Tiffany Henyard’s pick) was also nominated and seconded.
A vote was taken by the Moderator:
Wiedeman – elected by an “elector mandate” – vast majority of votes (video clip here)
Rayburn – a couple votes
Cook – a couple dozen votes
Moderator announced Stephanie Wiedeman as the winner, and she was sworn into office at the meeting.
The Township Electors effectively told Supervisor Tiffany Henyard to “hit the road” with this vote tonight filling the vacant trustee seat.
Dolton Trustees YouTube page was live throughout this meeting:

Posted at 14:04h, 23 JanuaryStephanie was a good person for Thornton Township in her previous position and will be a good trustee. It’s a shame Supervisor Henyard had to fire her because of those “henchman” who demanded her firing to put one of their own in and Tiffany was basically held hostage to those henchman’s wills.
