Two Thornton Township Trustees published a press release detailing why they will not attend the special township meeting Supervisor Tiffany Henyard had scheduled for Monday evening.

Thornton Township, IL – The Thornton Township Board of Trustees affirms their commitment to ensuring the township’s essential operations proceed without delay. As stewards of the community, the Trustees are prepared to attend a meeting to address and approve critical agenda items vital to the township’s functionality, including:
• Approval of agreed-upon bills
• Renewal of township insurance
• Establishment of a new township bank account
• Passage of the tax levy compliance report
However, the Trustees firmly oppose Supervisor Tiffany Henyard’s inclusion of non-essential items in the agenda for a proposed special meeting. Of particular concern is her attempt to appoint an individual to fill the current trustee vacancy without proper due process. These actions are seen as an effort to mislead residents, distract from pressing issues, and sidestep the responsibilities tied to her role as a leader of the township.
The Trustees call on Supervisor Henyard to prioritize the needs of the township by issuing an agenda solely focused on urgent operational matters. Personal agendas and unnecessary distractions have no place in the current context, where decisive action is required to protect the township’s future.
