Madison Co., Ill. (ECWd) –
Madison County has announced on its Facebook and webpages (or here if link is disabled) the results of the upcoming election by publishing a “Swearing In Ceremony” of newly elected county officers and naming them.
We are not sure if these are contested races, but even if they are not contested this publication could persuade people not to cast their votes, effectively skewing the outcome of other election races.
No matter how you look at it, this is in bad taste, and potentially unlawful electioneering.
We understand a complaint has already been submitted to the county.
