District 95’s Grand Jury Subpoena –

Last summer after the FBI searched the former superintendent’s home, we submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to Paris District 95 for a copy of the grand jury subpoena.  They provided a heavily redacted copy, refused to un-redact any of it, and we then filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in Edgar County Circuit Court. Last week, Judge Sullivan ordered District 95 to produce the subpoena with only select redactions; which includes names, and two columns of a spreadsheet, among others.

Today we received the 19-page subpoena.

Keep in mind when reading this article and the subpoena, that there has yet to be any indictments, and unless and until that happens, you must take this information at face value – even the Poker Table, Porcelain Dinner Plates and Dishes, Allewie King Size Platform Bed Frame/Fabric Upholstered Bed Frame with Diamond Button Tufted Headboard/Adjustable Headboard/Wood Slat Support/Mattress Foundation, and yes, Dr. Squatch and boxer briefs, as all those items surely have some school-related public purpose……

Here are some of the items the grand jury was asking for:

• Employee files of two named employees (we probably know who one of them is)
• Training files of two named employees
• Disciplinary actions of two named employees
• Vendor history of two named vendors
• Bank account information of two named accounts
• List of school district equipment, by name, serial numbers, and current location, issued to three named individuals
• Certifications of two named employees
• Emails between some individuals and the auditors
• All text messages to/from the district provided cell phone of two named individuals
• All social media messages from two named individuals
• Copies of certain payments, invoices, supporting documentation, and canceled checks of a provided list of transactions to two named entities/individuals
• Copy of health insurance agreements of two named individuals
• Proof of how W-2s and 1099s were distributed
• Any information D-95 was aware of related to active criminal, civil, or administrative litigation involving two named individuals
•  All meeting agendas, minutes, and recordings where any discussion or statements were made regarding and named individual’s compensation
• Copies of approved personal purchases of one named individual
• All documentation related to an attached spreadsheet of checks written
