Shelby Co., Ill. (ECWd) –
The Shelby County Farm Committee met this evening to discuss the county farm.
The original committee meeting agenda (HERE) was updated with a revised agenda (HERE).
Committee voted and unanimously approved a draft ordinance to declare the county farmland as no longer necessary, appropriate or required as originally acquired. Other language was included. The draft ordinance will go to the full county board for a vote.
The Committee voted and unanimously approved to cash rent (draft lease) the Shelby County Poor Farm for two years. Item will now go to the full county board for approval.
Voting on custom farming was not taken – no discussion was held.
Discussion was held on where to advertise for cash rent bids.
The Committee voted 2-1 to send the 2022 real estate taxes to the finance committee for payment (with county funds). This has failed a full county board vote in the past. Motion failed.
The committee unanimously voted to have KSI soil test the farmland. Full County Board will now consider this item. The full county board will now consider this item.
Discussion was held about hiring someone for mowing at the county cemetery. The person board member Carol Cole chose for the mowing is related to some county official and the relationship was not disclosed. Board member Williams stated the relationship needs to be disclosed in the full county board meeting. No vote was taken; the agenda was only for discussion.
