Cook County, Ill. (ECWd) –
State Senators, Representatives, Mayors, and County Board Members all signed a letter urging Thornton Township voters to vote “NO” on the referendum (which previously failed last fall) for a property tax increase for a township mental health program.
Tiffany Henyard shut down the previously well-funded township mental health program after she assumed the office of Township Supervisor.
From the letter:
“. . . we wish to avoid placing further hardship on homeowners. But also believe – given recent news media and law enforcement inquiries regarding possible misappropriation of taxpayer dollars – that to request more of township taxpayer’s hard-earned money is at best, ill-advised.”
Signatories:
State Senator Napoleon Harris III, State Representative Thaddeus Jones, Cook County Commissioners Monica Gordon and Donna Miller, Mayors Vernard Alsberry, Roger Agpawa, Thomas Brown, Christopher Clark, Don DeGraff, Rich Hofeld, Lawrence Jackson, and Terry Wells.
