Boone County, Ill. (ECWd) –
Boone County Clerk and Recorder, Julie Bliss, now faces a 26-Count felony indictment handed down from a Boone County Grand Jury yesterday, October 12, 2023.

Generally, there were 13 Counts of Official Misconduct, Class 3 Felonies if convicted, which are each related to the 13 other Counts with a mixture of Class 1, 2, and 3 felony designations, including, but not limited to:
- theft of government property of between $10,000 and $100,000
- theft of government property by deception of between $10,000 and $100,000 (using county credit card to pay for personal expenses)
- theft of government property of between $500 and $10,000 (using county credit card to buy tires for her personal vehicle)
- theft of government property by deception of between $500 and $10,000 (using county credit card to buy tires for her personal vehicle)
- more Counts of theft and theft by deception for keeping government cash, more tires, groceries at Walmart, paying a personal bill with a county clerk electronic check, and wire fraud 5x

Posted at 14:01h, 15 October100 years in prison sounds impressive but is probably far, far from what will really happen. Remember Rita Crundwell? She embezzled almost $54 million from the town of Dixon, IL, the biggest known municipal embezzlement in this entire country. She was sentenced in 2013 to less than 20 years and was released in 2021. Hardly 20 years. I wonder how she is supporting herself now? Just curious….
