DuPage Township Violated OMA…Again – AG Took 4 Years and 4 Months To Make Simple Determination –

The DuPage Township has once again been informed they violated the Open Meetings Act.  This particular violation stems from a meeting that took place in January 2019.

The violation was for not permitting public comment during the meeting.  While those responsible for this violation are no longer in office, this is yet another example of how elected officials are never held accountable for violating the people’s rights.  The legislature needs to establish stiffer penalties for such violations and State’s Attorney’s need to start prosecuting these cases.

As far as the determination from the Attorney General Public Access Counselor, there is no excuse for this matter to have taken over 4 years to make a determination that not having public comment is a violation of the law.

    There is certainly neglect and incompetence from the AG. The only way to remove him is in the next election
