ILLINOIS (ECWd) –
Rodney Davis appears in photos next to Chrisman School Superintendent Jim Acklin, while wearing a “Take Back The House” vest, in what appears to us as a campaign slogan. According to Open Secrets, Davis has received more than $174,000 from “Take Back The House.”
Other photos located on Davis’s campaign Facebook page show Davis talking to grade school students wearing the same vest.
This isn’t the first time Acklin has permitted school property to be used for campaign purposes, in 2018 ROE #11 candidate Smith was permitted to store campaign signs in the school office (read it here).
We question the appropriateness of Davis visiting the school wearing obvious campaign slogans, and his hanging around with Jim Acklin, who has in the past failed his mandated duty to report suspected child sexual abuse while he was the superintendent of another school district in St. Joseph.
See the evidence of the failure to report suspected child sex abuse (here and here), which included confirmed allegations that a teacher was handholding, hugging, kissing, attempts to “shove his tongue in my mouth“, and illegally providing alcohol and drinking alcohol, with female students.
So much for being concerned about keeping the children safe from sex abusers. Aklin even went so far as falsely accusing his opponent of taking advantage of Acklin’s own failure to report (here),
Davis questioned his opponent’s riding in a vehicle with a person with an arrest record (claiming she hired a sex offender when she didn’t), while at the same time, taking photos with Acklin, who according to court records, did not report suspected child sexual abuse to the state as he was required to do under Illinois law.
To Rodney Davis, we say “Shall those without sin cast the first stone” and to tone it down on all of his false and misleading attack ads against his opponent.
Truth wins in the end.
