Crawford Co., IL. (ECWd) –
The Crawford County Airport Authority has finally come around to compliance with state law, the Airport Authorities Act.
Robert Quick, the now-former airport authority commissioner, followed Greg Nye and Tyler Devonshire in resigning as commissioners of the Crawford County Airport Authority (read his resignation here).
It only took four months from our initial article alleging disqualifications among various airport authority commissioners for Robert Quick to finally resign.
Section 5 of the Airport Authorities Act prohibits commissioners from holding the office if they are an officer or employee of any other unit of local government or an elected official of state or federal government, with the exception of being a school district employee in counties with less than 40,000 residents.
Robert Quick is a board member of the Crawford County Memorial Hospital (which is a unit of local government) and is therefore disqualified to serve as an airport authority commissioner.
The attorney for the airport provided the following statement with a copy of the resignation:
Attached is a letter of resignation of Robert Quick from the Board of Commissioners of the Crawford County Airport Authority. Mr. Quick serves on the Crawford Memorial Hospital Board as well. This is a technical violation of paragraph 5 of the Airport Act, which act is antiquated and in need of revision.
Three commissioners have resigned, Greg Nye, Tyler Devonshire and Robert Quick, and no other board member has a position which would put that commissioner in potential conflict with paragraph 5 of the Airport Act. Thank you.

There are still some outstanding issues in Crawford County, like county board member insurance and issues with the forest preserve which we will keep working on.

Posted at 06:31h, 13 MayNice work. Same stuff over and over.: .board members claim they don’t know they’re in violation of the law. When advised, it takes 90 days for them to decide you’re correct as well as a letter from IDOT telling them they’re wrong before they resign. Otherwise they would happily continue on in violation of Illinois Law.
Somehow, these wizards understand plain English when it favors they’re interests and never, when it’s contrary to their liking or the public’s interests. Keep in mind, they’re still on another board,
Do you ever wonder what a similar situation would look like? It’s sort of like robbing a bank, caught in the act, playing stupid and receiving 90 days to stop filling your pockets.
