Hearing Scheduled on FOIA Lawsuit Against Wesley Township –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On January 2, 2022

Will Co., IL. (ECWd) –

Update:  On Friday, January 7, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., there is another (Status?) Hearing in the lawsuit filed against Wesley Township for their complete failure to comply with the basic requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

We encourage all people interested in how local governments operate, and how they fail in transparency, to join this hearing using the Court’s Zoom ID# 95923571680 Password 201201. This information is available on the Will County Court’s website. Make sure to shut off your microphone and camera when entering the Zoom room.

This lawsuit has been ongoing since August 6, 2019, with the township even filing a frivolous counterclaim and demanding a $50K payment from Plaintiff, then voluntarily dismissing it when the counterclaim did not obtain the desired results.

A couple of months ago, the Wesley Township Supervisor even opined that it did not matter how much it cost the taxpayers, they were going to continue fighting this lawsuit with the knowledge the township did not have any funds to pay any settlement or any judgment it may receive against it.
