ROBBINS, IL. (ECWd) –
During its November 23, 2021, Village Trustees meeting, the Village of Robbins voted unanimously to commission a forensic audit, and to contract with Benford, Brown and Associates as the CPA firm responsible for the audit, with an initial cap of $25K. The audit will be revisited when it reaches approximately $10K in expenses and brought to the board again for further approval.
Mayor Darren E. Bryant stated the village has discovered questionable expenditures since he took office, including alleged overpayments of payroll, water bill changes, etc., all occurring prior to him taking office. Some alleged improper spending was with federal grants. Bryant further states that “the village is serious about its finances.”
He intends to keep the village fair to every person.
It is certainly refreshing to see this village working towards transparency and accountability of taxpayer funds.
The Southland Journal has a copy of this meeting video on its YouTube page (here) – audit discussions starting at about the 33-minute mark.
