PARIS, IL. (ECWd) –
The Paris, Illinois, City Council met tonight, with several members of the public present to speak about the recent rise in crime, particularly in young people, in the past several months/years.
As part of public comment, a hospital employee talked about several programs the hospital has to help people addicted alcohol and drugs, others questioned what they could do to assist in combatting these crimes – one suggestion was a Neighborhood Watch program, I spoke about a commissioner who hasn’t lived within the city limits of Paris for about 13 months and asked the council to consider declaring the seat vacant, and the last person commented about his views on how to solve the crime problem.
