Calumet City: Judge DENIED Clerk’s Motion for TRO Against Mayor –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On November 10, 2021

Calumet City, IL. (ECWd) –

During today’s Hearing on a Temporary Restraining Order, the Judge DENIED Calumet City Clerk Figgs’ Motion for the Order, and Defendant Mayor Jones will file a Motion or Answer to the Complaint by November 17, 2021.

Clerk Figgs alleges Mayor Jones is interfering with her duties and preventing her from conducting city business.

Mayor Jones disagrees.

During this Hearing:

  • the Judge mentioned the proposed TRO submitted by Plaintiff was so vague it would be unenforceable
  • the duties of the Clerk were not defined in this suit (which is what Defendant attorney also mentioned)
  • the Mayor is the CEO of the city and is in charge of the employees – Plaintiff attorney disagreed, Defendant agreed
  • the Judge asked, specifically, what duty is spelled out in state statute and city ordinance that is being interfered with
  • Judge Denied the TRO

After several minutes of further discussion, the Judge DENIED the TRO.

So she filed a lawsuit saying the mayor was interfering with her duties but she couldn’t even tell the judge what her duties were. Y’all wake up and stop electing people just because you know their name. How long has she been a clerk and she doesn’t know her job yet? Not enough to even write down a job description on a court filing. Then she waste more tax dollars by suing. That means she doesn’t care to know it and she knows y’all don’t care, so she keeps making a fool out of voters and collecting a check. I’m so sick of incompetence. Now let’s wait for it…. Part two will be her playing the victim role if that hasn’t already happened. SMH. #IllinoisCorruption

And these towns wonder why it’s difficult to hire professionals. Well, it’s simple, you’re not. Silly rabbit.
