Calumet City, IL. (ECWd) –
During today’s Hearing on a Temporary Restraining Order, the Judge DENIED Calumet City Clerk Figgs’ Motion for the Order, and Defendant Mayor Jones will file a Motion or Answer to the Complaint by November 17, 2021.
Clerk Figgs alleges Mayor Jones is interfering with her duties and preventing her from conducting city business.
Mayor Jones disagrees.
During this Hearing:
- the Judge mentioned the proposed TRO submitted by Plaintiff was so vague it would be unenforceable
 - the duties of the Clerk were not defined in this suit (which is what Defendant attorney also mentioned)
 - the Mayor is the CEO of the city and is in charge of the employees – Plaintiff attorney disagreed, Defendant agreed
 - the Judge asked, specifically, what duty is spelled out in state statute and city ordinance that is being interfered with
 - Judge Denied the TRO

After several minutes of further discussion, the Judge DENIED the TRO.
