Carlinville, IL. (ECWd) –
Today, a Temporary Restraining Order was issued against North Mac CUSD#34 and its Superintendent Jay Goble, which is protecting the rights of a student to attend school and participate in in-person education.
Four families filed for this Temporary Restraining Order and Injunction.
The school district made its own determination on quarantine without consultation or communication between the Health Department, student(s), and parent(s).
From the Order:
- Absent a finding by the local health department that these four students are deemed close contacts and are subject to mandatory quarantine because the public’s health and welfare are significantly endangered and that quarantine is the only least restrictive option, the Defendants are to allow these students to return to in-person learning unless the students voluntarily consent to quarantine or a quarantine order is issued
- This TRO was issued on September 1, 2021 at 3:45 p.m.
- It shall remain in effect through September 10, 2021.
- D. A hearing on Plaintiffs’ Motion for Preliminary Injunction is set for September 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m.
Plenary Hearing set for September 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in the Macoupin County Courthouse.
