Adams County Judge Issued Restraining Order Against School District 172 – Re: Right To In-Person Education –

ADAMS COUNTY, IL. (ECWd) –

On September 2, 2021, a Temporary Restraining Order was issued against Quincy Public School District #172 and its Superintendent Roy Webb, protecting the rights of students to attend school and participate in in-person education.

Three families filed for this Temporary Restraining Order and Injunction.

*Update: According to WGEM, the county health department issued the quarantine order, but did not follow-up and get a court ordered quarantine order as required under Illinois law..

From the Order:

  • Defendants are enjoined from excluding C.H., L.T. or K.O. from the facilities of School District 172, Adams County, Illinois for being an individual public health risk unless an active Order of Quarantine issues against C.H., L.T. or K.O. from the local Health Department as required by the Illinois State Board of Education
  • This Temporary Restraining Order shall remain in full force and effect for ten days from the date hereof, unless sooner modified or dissolved by this Court
  • This Temporary Restraining Order is entered at 7:15 p.m. September 2, 2021
  • A hearing on the Preliminary Injunction is set for Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at the Adams County Courthouse, unless for good cause shown or on Defendants’ request the date is extended

    Interesting. My understanding was that the people in question were quaranteened (sp) per the 48 hours that the CDC (Health Dept) required and the school required a longer quarantene (sp) Luckily the children have to wear masks so if these children are an unknowing carrier they aren’t exposing other children. I certainly understand the parents not wanting to have the kids at home, though I imagine in situations like this teachers have sent homework and assisted the children to keep up. Wondering if these same parents are against the mask mandate. I want to do everything to keep my children and other children in the community safe, no matter what county I live in.
