Shelby, Co.  (ECWd) –

Shelby County Sheriff Don Koonce has submitted his resignation letter to the Shelby County Board Chairman with an effective date of June 25, 2021.

“Please allow this letter to serve as my official notification that I will be retiring and resigning my Office as Sheriff of Shelby County on June 25, 2021. This decision was not an easy one for me to make, but reaffirmed by the imminent change in police reform. It is my hope that Illinois legislators dive deep into this reform, and make sweeping changes. The safety of the public is at risk.”

Koonce cites police reform as his reaffirmation to retire, however, Koonce faced a criminal investigation by the Illinois State Police regarding illegal gun sales and alleged payroll fraud.  That investigation was completed and turned over to the Attorney General for a charging decision in December of 2020.

A copy of the resignation letter can be downloaded at this link or viewed below.

“but reaffirmed by the imminent change in police reform.”

In other words, “if I can’t do whatever the hell I want to line my pockets and screw the taxpayer, I quit.

“police reform” is the fourth Reich’s way of destroying public police so they can unleash hell on all of us. their drug gang lieutenants are waiting in the wings to take over, then you’ll reap the whirlwinds of totalitarian fascism!

As reported by Illinois Leaks in September 2020, the chief law enforcement administrator in Shelby County, Illinois was caught electioneering. Other investigative news published here at that time also found the Sherriff taking a clothing allowance despite such unapproved compensation being prohibited by the Illinois Counties Code (Administrative Law). Ironic that Sherriff Koonce would now seek to press his retirement uniform by insinuating that elected statehouse officials need to take a deep dive on legislation enacted in 2021.

    June 25, 2021 – December 31, 2020 = 176 days
    June – December + X = 6 + X months

Let’s suppose the Illinois Attorney General hasn’t just been snorkeling around for these last 6 months or better; and that he’s had enough time on the bottom already. At 1 Bar (32.8 FOW), he ought not have to resurface empty handed.
