Two females dead after alleged DUI crashed into Deuce’s Wild Saloon outdoor patio –

Olney, IL. (ECWd) –

A vehicle allegedly operated by Michael W. Mattox, 60-year-old male of Dundas, IL, while under the influence and without a valid drivers license, ran off the roadway and mowed two female customers down as they were standing on the patio of the Deuce’s Wild Saloon in Olney, Illinois Saturday night.

The Illinois State Police Press Release is below:

ISP FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT
The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
WHAT: Single Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE: South West Street at West North Avenue, Richland County
WHEN: Dec. 26, 2020 at approximately 7:49 p.m.
VEHICLE: Unit 1- Black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado
DRIVER: Unit 1- Michael W. Mattox, 60-year-old male of Dundas, IL – Transported to a local hospital with minor injuries
PEDESTRIANS: DeAnn C. Richardson, 48-year-old-female of Olney, IL – Fatally injured
Judy L. Jourdan, 69-year-old female of Olney, IL – Fatally injured
PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling westbound on West North Avenue approaching South West Street in Olney, IL. Unit 1 proceeded through the intersection and ran off roadway on the northwest corner where it struck the outdoor patio portion of the Deuce’s Wild Saloon. Two female pedestrians standing on the patio were struck by Unit 1 and were pronounced deceased on scene by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
This incident remains under joint investigation by the Olney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and Illinois State Police.
CHARGES: Unit 1 Driver was arrested for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, No Valid License, and Improper Lane Usage.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law

    And, if he had been stopped by an officer prior to this incident occurring, the driver would most likely have said, “Why aren’t you out arresting REAL bad guys. You’re gonna ruin my life. All I was trying to do was get home.” NO MERCY for DUIs! Start routine incarceration when they are stopped for traffic violations and are found guilty of DUI.

    I feel the families of the deceased should hold JB Pritzker responsible since he won’t allow indoor services. I normally don’t favor lawsuits, especially frivolous but this is an exception for me. Sad, so sorry for such a tragic loss.

    Who’s car was he driving? If not his, “you do not need a valid drivers license to own a car in Illinois” Their license should be revoked and they should be charged along with Mattox! Look at the Illinois Secretary of States web site. It outlines punishment for DUI. It has details of how the office handles DUI offenders up to 7 convictions!!

    This many is safer in jail than out on the streets of Richland County, He won’t last long in public. He might get the justice the courts refuse to give,
