Shelbyville, IL. (ECWd) –
The Special Meeting of the Shelby County Board opened with controversy yesterday.
On the Agenda for consideration and vote was a motion to remove the elected County Treasurer from office.
After considerable discussion and public comments, the sponsor of the motion removed the motion from the agenda.
Also discussed during public comment were objections to a recent letter from an outgoing board member asking the county board to pay real estate taxes for the farmers who lease out county farm land. We doubt it will ever come up for a vote in Shelby County.
