AG: Maripat Oliver violated the Open Meetings Act five times last year –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On May 3, 2020

DuPage Township (ECWd) –

The Illinois Attorney General issued a determination letter, dated April 28, 2020, confirmed that DuPage Township Trustee Maripat Oliver, and the entire Township Senior Committee violated the Open Meetings Act  on May 1, May 7, June 4, July 9, and Aug 6 or 2019.

Oliver is the lone elected Trustee appointed to that Committee, which is why we named her in this article.

Oliver, in recent Township board meetings, has continually complained about legal fees incurred when Trustee Benford filed these complaints, however, no legal fees would have been incurred had Oliver and the Committee simply agreed they violated the Act instead of trying to make excuses…which the Committee caused the Township’s Attorney to answer, incurring said legal fees.

The AG determined this Committee violated Section 2.06(a)(2) of the Act by not documenting the members of the public body recorded as either present or absent.

This Committee was having meetings and publishing minutes without naming which members of the public body were present at the meeting, which is a requirement of the Act.

All they had to do was to admit it, but instead chose to pay their attorney to respond and defend their unlawful actions.

Maripat Oliver. Ignorance, and ignorant. If you use public money to protect yourself from your unlawful board actions, and continue to show your stupid bull headedness over and over and over: what constructive purpose do you actually serve on this township board?
For god sakes, educate yourself on Illinois Law. Read it, it’s not that difficult or resign. Quit wasting taxpayer money and time…….
