PARIS, IL. (ECWd) –
In several posts from Paris Union District 95’s Facebook page yesterday, the school hinted at staying closed the rest of this school year.
“Parent can come to Wenz Tuesday, April 14 between 10:00 – 1:00 to pick up their students’ belongings. Any items leftover after Friday will be disposed of properly.”
“Thank you to everyone that came to pick up a book today for their child! Please note that April 17 will be the last day to pick up your child’s medication or possessions. Contact Dr. Larson at [email protected] to schedule a time to pick up what you need. On April 18, all leftover items will be disposed of properly.”
Additionally, on April 8th, the district posted a note asking students and parents to “please help us prepare for a possible May closing”.
Attempts to contact Mr. Larson by telephone this morning went unanswered.
These are questions our readers are asking:
- Do these messages indicate that school will be closed the rest of this school year?
- Under what authority does the school have to dispose of student’s personal property?
- Isn’t this encouraging violating the stay at home order since it is not listed as essential in the order?
.
