Springfield, IL. (ECWd) –

Gov Pritzker signed Executive Order 2020-07 this afternoon. which states the following:

Beginning March 16, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. all businesses in the State of Illinois that offer food or beverages for on-premises consumption, including restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and food halls must suspend service for and may not permit on-site consumption.

They may continue with curb-side, in-house delivery, third-party delivery, drive-thru, and carry out services.

Businesses located in airports, hospitals, and dining halls of colleges and universities are exempt.

Hotels may provide room service and carry-out. Catering services may continue.

Beginning March 18, 2020, all public and private gatherings of 50 people or more are prohibited – this includes faith-based gatherings.

Suspends the Open Meetings Act of the requirement of in-person attendance by members of the public body.

***This permits public bodies to meet in secret, making no requirement to record or broadcast such a meeting. Shameful.

Secrecy during emergencies fuels distrust in government.

The Open Meeting part makes no sense – Most council mtgs. I’ve been to, and others never had 50 people total – why not just limit the number. There should always be video or something to keep the public informed.
    2. Closing everything makes little sense – It only takes one person (who may not know they have the virus or it’s so mild they don’t notice) who walks in gets the carry out – touches a door – the next person who walks in touches the door then bites their fingernail. There you go… I think some common sense hand washing/hand santitizer and keeping your fingers out of your mouth or eyes would help.
