Wesley Township, Will Co. (ECWd) –
Electors of Wesley Township have submitted a petition for an Ordinance to be included on the Annual Township Meeting of the Electors agenda, sign by around 30 electors.
Items to be voted on at the April 14, 2020 Annual Meeting of the Electors include:
- No person shall be prohibited from township corporate property without court order obtained through a civil court action in the name of the township in the circuit court
- The Supervisor and Town Board are hereby ordered that the entire township park (aka Rivals Lookout park) shall forever be a public park
for the free use of the public and that no fee or payment of any kind shall be mandated for use of the park or any portions of the park including the pavilion - The Supervisor and Town Board are hereby ordered that the township park (aka Rivals Lookout park) shall, among other things, provide
electricity, water, and overnight camping in the same location as previous years - No person or persons shall lease, rent, reserve, orset aside any portion of the Township Park, including the pavilion, for any reason
This comes as a result of recent disagreements between some resident and the former trustees and supervisor, and now apparently with the current trustees and current supervisor.
Published park rules apparently under consideration include prohibiting camping at the township park – these proposed rules were provided to the township board by the “advisory park committee.”
This has been a point of contention for a couple of years and will hopefully be fixed in April.
