On August 16, 2019

WILMINGTON, IL. (ECWd) –

Just one day after being arrested (read about the arrest here) by the Wilmington Police Department, John Norton was slapped with an Emergency Stalking No Contact Order (Order of Protection) (“EOP”) in Will County Circuit Court.

According to the petition for the EOP, Norton’s conduct at the Wilmington Dollar General, his conduct at meetings, and his conduct online left petitioner feeling threatened and harassed by John Norton.

Most recently was his vulgar and threatening conduct at the Dollar General, which resulted in his arrest.

Also in the Petition was a complaint that Norton was parked in a Handicap parking spot outside of Wesley Township offices when Norton was not handicapped, did not have Handicap License Plates, and did not have Handicap Placard. It is alleged Norton’s use of that handicap parking spot prevented a legitimate placard holder from utilizing it for parking at the township meeting. Wilmington Police arrived and made him move to a different parking spot.

The Court Granted the Emergency Stalking No Contact Order for a duration of about three weeks when the Petition will be heard for a Plenary (2 year) Stalking No Contact Order.

Norton was ordered to stay at least 1000 feet away form Petitioner’s residence and 1000 feet away from petitioner wherever she may be. If both are at a public meeting, Norton must stay at least 25 feet away from petitioner.

A Hearing, where both sides will be heard, is scheduled for September 6, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 100 at the Will County Courthouse.
