CHARLESTON, IL. (ECWd) –
Attorneys for the State and for Defendant Barry Wolfe appeared in Coles County Circuit Court on Friday for a scheduled Hearing on Wolfe’s Motion to Withdraw guilty plea.
The Hearing was continued until April 26, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., and the State was directed to prepare a writ (order) on the Motion.
Wolfe was convicted on June 26, 2018, thru his guilty plea in 4 Counts of sexual abuse of a minor. He was sentenced on August 10, 2018 to 60 years in the state penitentiary. His projected parole date, according to Illinois Department of Corrections, is October 12, 2068.
On August 20th, he sent a letter to the Court stating his intention to withdraw his guilty plea and the Court accepted it..
Wolfe is a former AAU Girls Basketball Coach in Martinsville, Illinois, and used his position as coach to abuse the children on the team. He was charged with 42 Counts of various criminal sexual abuses of minors in which he held a position of trust, authority, and supervision.
