Cook Co. (ECWd) –
The Maine Township has refused to produce certain records tied to the General Assistance Public Aid information and even though we offered them a chance to rethink their position they chose to stand by their denial.
Josh Burday with Lovey and Lovey filed the Freedom of Information Act lawsuit today in the Cook County Circuit Clerks office. According to the file, a hearing on the matter is scheduled for April 3, 2018, at 9:45.
Maine Township claimed the very record they are required to maintain is not in their possession but rather in the possession of the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).
Also named in the suit is the Illinois Department of Employment Security for an improper response to the request. IDES did confirm in their response that this record is required to be maintained by the Township.
Supervisor Laura Morask is the person responsible for General Assistance and records of this type and it appears the absence of this record may point to even more failings on her part as the Supervisor.
