NEWTON, IL. (ECWd) –
Below is the video of January 18, 2018, Board of Trustees Meeting of Jasper County Community Unit School District #1.
A citizen jokingly said she would use her cane against the Superintendent and some guy used curse words during public comment relating to certain male body parts. He also used a word recently made famous by President Trump that ends with “hole” – and other public commenters also voiced their opinions. Another citizen spent 5 minutes talking about everything except the school board’s willful denial of the civil rights of voters and the civil rights of another board member.
Other things transpired, like the Superintendent expressing the possible need of hiring someone to respond to FOIA requests, they heard a presentation in favor of a skeet club, questions on who had administrative access to school emails, and the possibility of requiring employees and encouraging elected officials to only use the school’s email accounts when transacting school business – that policy draft should be considered during the February meeting.
Incidentally, the District was filming the meeting also, and we encourage them to film all meetings and place the videos online for everyone to review – or maybe even consider live streaming the meetings. We would even volunteer and assist them in setting up the streaming process.
