CHARLESTON, IL. (ECWd) –

A report of shots fired outside American Watchdogs Headquarters in the 800 block of West Lincoln Street in Charleston, Illinois.

Coles County Sherriff blocked traffic looking for casings.

One ECWd member was present in the building, along with an intern working with us.

Kirk Allen said it sounded like the shots were fired from a moving vehicle.

No information on who or what the target was supposed to be, but we do not believe we were targets (no signage indicating we are there).

More information when it becomes available.

UPDATE: Sheriff Rankin was placing signs out on the corner about a hundred yards west of the Office of American Watchdogs and also confirmed shots fired.  All reports point to 4 shots ringing out and citizens on both sides of the road exited their buildings to come out and find out what was going on.

No indication at this time if any buildings were hit and there are no reports of any person being hit.

Police Units from EIU, Charleston, and the Coles County Sheriff’s office were on scene.  A portion of Lincoln Avenue was blocked off as Police searched for shell casings.  As of this reporting, no casings were located.  A further search of the area is being conducted by Charleston police.
