SAWYERVILLE, MACOUPIN CO., IL. (ECWd) –
On September 21, 2017, a Complaint was filed in Macoupin County Circuit Court naming the Village of Sawyerville as Defendant in a public records lawsuit. It is case number 2017-MR-117.
This arises out of a Freedom of Information Act request for public records, dated March 28, 2017 where I requested several items related to the construction of the village hall building, use of public resources, and water bill payment locations.
The village sent a letter telling me they would not provide anything, and then later called me and told me the same thing – and that if I wanted to see any public records I had to make an appointment and go there to view the records in person.
I’m wondering if they took advice from Carlinville’s Mayor DeMuzio and the Electoral Board Attorney who gave Carlinville bad advice.
Actual copy of file-stamped Complaint will be provided when it becomes available.
