Shelby Co. (ECWd)

The May 1, 2017 regular meeting of the Shelbyville Township board was met with multiple resignations from office.  We covered the attorney/FOIA officer resignation in this article.

Under new business, the current Township Supervisor, Steve Shoaff, tendered not one, but two resignations.  He resigned from taking his elected term that was to start May 15th, 2017, and then resigned from fulfilling the remainder of his current term, which ends effectively at Midnight May 14th, 2017.

Shoaff offered no reasoning for his resignation.

Well it’s about time Steve. How about paying back all the money you spent on trying to make people develop their land ? Why, Steve?? That’s not the Township’s job. $80,.00 to $100.000 in attorney fees at taxpayers expense is disgraceful and illegal.

$100,000? paid to the current resigned lawyers law firm? Might be a rumor.

Check expenses via FOIA reports for funds paid to township attorney over the 14-15 years. Taxpayers should be outraged that tax money was used to pursue a lawsuit forcing landowners to develop their land.

lawyer had found a cash cow. Appears like no one was overseeing what was going on.
