CHAMPAIGN, IL. (ECWd) –
Dear Friend,
Curious to see how your local government spends your property taxes? Interested in learning how to hold elected officials accountable when they waste it?
I hope so, because Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Illinois is hosting a Citizen Watchdog Training on Saturday, January 21, and I think you’d really enjoy it.
Most Illinoisans pay more in property taxes to fund their local government than they pay in state income taxes. But like any level of government, our local taxes aren’t always spent as efficiently as they could be.
That’s why AFPF-Illinois is hosting a Citizen Watchdog Training to teach you the skills to hold elected officials accountable.
Over the past several years, the efforts of two veterans from rural Edgar County have caused the resignation or removal of more than 200 elected officials and bureaucrats. The Edgar County Watchdogs want to help you become a watchdog in your community.
Our Citizen Watchdog Training will teach you how to use publicly available information and Open Meetings and Freedom of Information laws to investigate your own concerns about tax dollars not being used as efficiently as they could be.
The public deserves the ability to scrutinize government spending. Improve your ability to do that and become a Citizen Watchdog with Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Illinois-you can register for the training here.
I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, January 21, in Champaign.
In Liberty,
Andrew Nelms
Illinois Deputy State Director
Americans for Prosperity Foundation
