Clark County Park District Appoints 2 Commissioners –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On May 7, 2016

CLARK CO., IL. (ECWd) –

The Clark County Park District held a Special Meeting on May 5, 2016 for the purpose of appointing commissioners to two vacant seats.

Steve Turpin and Don Pine are the newly appointed Commissioners – we wish them good luck.

Steve Turpin is the former long-time Clark County Assessor who retired a few years ago.

Don Pine is retired from the United States Post Office.

Both appear to be good choices.

In recent weeks, Charity Murphy, Director of the Park District, fired an employee and another employee quit her job.

At some point in time, all of the Commissioners will come to realize that the constant churning of employees is not the fault of the employees, but reflects directly on the quality of leadership in the position of Park Director. Good leaders do not have turn-over rates anywhere near what has happened under Murphy – no matter the situation they are put under.

I hope I’m wrong but I’m not certain if Steve Turpin is a good choice or not. He was (and continues to be) a little too cozy with former Circuit Clerk Kathy Ramsey.

He didn’t see what the big deal was with her stealing from the taxpayers of Clark County.
