IDOT District 5 In Paris Doing The Right Thing?

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On December 12, 2015

Edgar Co. (ECWd) –
It’s not very often we see public bodies, let alone a state agency, take steps to correct illegal acts, but it appears someone in the Paris District 5 office “gets it” as corrective steps clearly have been taken.
It turns out the Illinois ‘Association” of Highway Engineers has been using the intranet system ran by the State of Illinois for their promotions, that appear to include Scholarship information, golf outings, Salvation Army bell ringing campaign, fish fry, etc.
The first question, who let a private association have access to the state system in the first place?  Those people should be held accountable for allowing such an abuse of the system.
Apparently someone in the Paris office realized the problem as the IAHE posted a letter that states in part: “We have been informed that we as IHAE will no longer be able to post information on the D5 Intranet site, send out e-mails using state e-mail that are IAHE related”
We would like to thank whom ever it was that put a stop to private organizations promoting their business on the backs of the taxpayer.
