Tri-State Fire Protection District – Two more resignations

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On November 6, 2015

DuPage Co. (ECWd) –
We have been informed that Chief Jack Mancione and his Assistant Chief have chosen to resign from their positions.  That brings the total to three resignations from this Department in the last few months.
We are unsure on the reasons these two resigned but are confident the recent exposure of the Chief’s undocumented equipment disposal played a role in his coming to this decision.  It is our understanding the chief was advised not to take the path he did regarding the equipment disposal, however, he did it anyway. (Equipment Disposal Article)
This department has been riddled with scandals for several years of which the Better Government Association exposed several problem areas clear back in 2013, yet the malfeasance continued because the trustees were not doing their job.
We wonder if criminal charges would have been pursued by the State’s Attorney back then, if it might have curbed the ongoing malfeasance.
Our recent reporting lead to the exposure and subsequent resignation of their 900 mile commuter trustee who did not live in the district, Michael Orrico.  Orrico was surrounded with insider deals of his own which should be investigated by the authorities for possible criminal prosecution. (Insider dealings exposed)
In regards to vacant trustee position created with his recent resignation, it is our understanding that a replacement was selected and there are now at least 2 trustees focused on solving many of these problems that have plagued this department for years.   We suspect their leadership had a lot to do with the two top brass resigning.
We will update this article once we have the resignation paperwork in hand.
In the mean time, thanks to the good people in this Fire District that reached out for some assistance in exposing many of the problems taking place under the now resigned Chief Jack Mancione.
Chief
