College of DuPage - “A Dad of Two former COD Students”

BY KIRK ALLEN & JOHN KRAFT

ON October 17, 2015

DuPage Co. (ECWd) -
We routinely get communications from the public both in our comment section of the articles and from e-mails sent to us.  Today I received one that I knew needed to be published as it is from a local community father with two kids that attended COD.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The HLC criticism on COD and SLEA is extremely well presented. HLC’s citation and reference to the federal Dept. of Education regulations, which define how college credit hours are to be properly calculated, speaks volumes. The HLC called out COD, Dr. Breuder, COD’s senior staff, and the former COD Board-- loud and clear on this one!!!! COD et al were on the wrong side of federal rules and regulations, according to the HLC. No two ways about it. That stink belongs on Dr. Breuder since that stink happened on his watch.

Couple the recent HLC castigation with the recent ICCB report, which directs COD to rebate money to the State of Illinois for fudging FTE enrollment numbers with SLEA cadets…and there you have it. Concurrence and corroboration by the ICCB and the HLC.

When you throw in the on point criticisms leveled by key personnel who used to head up the SLEA, followed by their resignation…and then news papers cover the issue extensively…it really makes you wonder whether Trustees McGuire, Birt and Waz will be stubborn enough to continue to proclaim that there is insufficient evidence or a rush to judgment going on here???

If they vote "no" on Dr. Breuder’s termination, they are in essence telling the HLC, the ICCB, top investigative journalists, and key personnel who resigned from COD in disgust… to go pound sand (someone should point that out to them).

A vote of "no" is a sign of the utmost disrespect to the ICCB, a governmental entity of the State of Illinois and the HLC, the lead accreditation agency for The College…and worse it tells the students that certain COD Board Members don’t give a damn about them either."
