AG sends 17th letter of inquiry to Clark County Park District –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On August 6, 2015

Clark Co., IL. (ECWd) –
The Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor has inquired about another alleged Freedom Of Information Act violation against the Clark County Park District.
This makes the 17th complaint in the past 3 weeks, where allegations are that Charity Murphy simply refuses to answer any requests for public records, or that the board violated the Open Meetings Act.
This one involves a simple request for records related to a recent meeting:
I asked for two items: 1.) the Director’s report from the July 16, 2015 meeting and 2.) a copy of the bills presented for payment at that same meeting. You know, things that were readily available and would have involved less than 5 minutes to scan and email.
Instead of providing the records, Charity Murphy, with the blessings of Terry Stepp, Glen Kuehnel, Ron Stone, and Joe Ewing (the majority of the Park District Board of Trustees), has placed a workload on the AG’s PAC Office, and incurred legal fees, simply because she will not do her job.

I agree with Warren…we need to get a state rep at a board meeting to chastise and shame these people! Wait, that would not work, as these people have no shame, nor conscience either.

This kind of violation level needs to be reported to Dale Righter and Reggie Phillips. Obviously the legislature needs to look at this problem and pass stronger penalty laws.
