College of DuPage releases WDCB report, waives privilege…

College of DuPage (ECWd) –

The College of DuPage Board of Trustees tonight waived attorney-client privilege to release the “‘Independent Investigative Report on WDCB.” Read a copy of the report here: http://ouweb.cod.edu/news-events/pdfs/wdcb.pdf

COD hired the Chicago law firm Williams Montgomery and John, Ltd. in February 2015 to investigate, among other items, whether Elmhurst College notified College of DuPage after learning of then-COD employee John Valenta’s criminal behavior at Elmhurst College.

“The public has paid for this report. It deserves to read it. The Board weighed attorney-client privilege against the public interest in disclosure. In this case, the Board finds that disclosure is the right course,” said Kathy Hamilton, COD Board of Trustees Chairman.

“This report speaks for itself. I will not characterize or interpret its contents. It describes an unfortunate chapter in COD history that this Board will never allow to happen again. The effects of that period are not over, but their causes no longer exist. Our job is to identify issues, repair damage and transform the lives of our students. For the record, this report was received by the administration before this Board took office. We voted to pay its legal bill at our meeting on May 21,” Hamilton said.
