Livingston Co., IL. (ECWd) –

Update: May 25, 2015, 9:15 a.m.:
This is the second Iberdrola Renewables turbine fire in the past 10 days. The previous was on May 14 and was located in the Locust Ridge II Wind Farm near Westboro, IOWA. (news article here).

This turbine is part of the Iberdrola Renewables  Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project

It is an IBERDROLA Renewables wind turbine.

“This turbine is located about 1.5 miles from Mr. Young’s house.  This was Sunday early evening.  A few of us jumped in our cars and went to take a look.  Fire crews were acting “traffic control only”.  Iberdrola trucked showed up after fire crews left.  The turbine was still burning but Iberdrola left.  Winds picking up and bad weather a comin’.  The blades are free turning right now, we will see what happens if the tornado watch turns ugly in the Odell area tonight. “

Good thing corn is not about ready for harvest…..could be a rural disaster.

  2. Wonder who’s liable if 1. house catches on fire? 2. If farmer loses his crops? Interesting to see how concered Iberdrola was.

  3. Very good point about the corn harvest.

    But, hey, you’re in Illinois. A progressive state. In a few years, there will
    probably be a couple of wind turbines who will want to
    marry each other. And, the Illinois General Assembly will approve it!
