Chicago, IL. (ECWd) –
More blow-back from the Breuder severance package vote. During a press conference in Chicago on February 2, 2015, State Representatives talked about the severance package issue and revealed several proposals to insure this never happens again. Rep. Jeanne Ives thanked College of DuPage Trustee Kathy Hamilton for her stance against the severance package and for publicly standing up against the other six Trustees, she also thanked Watchdogs, Kirk Allen, John Kraft, and the folks at Open The Books for shining the light on COD, and for helping facilitate public involvement in this important taxpayer issue.
Representative Jeanne M. Ives (R) – 42nd District – is a Veteran Officer of the U.S. Army and a West Point Graduate. She has served as Platoon Leader, Detachment Commander, ROTC Instructor, and Council-Woman at Large for the City of Wheaton, Illinois.

With constituents stinging from the recent severance agreement negotiated by the College of DuPage Board, area House Republican lawmakers stepped up with a range of proposals all aimed at the same goal, preventing these types of “golden parachutes” in the future. Legislation ranging from capping severance payouts to enhanced public review was thrown out as possible items to prevent such flagrant abuses. Two newly elected neighboring lawmakers, Mark Batinick (R, Plainfield) and Grant Wehrli (R, Naperville), are both eyeing electoral remedies aimed at counteracting the lengthy six-year terms of many local public bodies. Also speaking are Margo McDermed (R, Mokena) and Rep. Peter Breen (R, Lombard).”

Isn’t interesting that back in April 22, 2009, the “lame-duck” COD BOT extended his contract 3 years only after being on the job 4 months. This was before the new board was going to be seated.
Doesn’t that look like what just happened again? I guess nothing was learned from 2009.
