College of DuPage’s Breuder – Master of Deception –

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

College of DuPage – (ECWd)

We all know we are in the height of the political spin season and by all indications Dr. Breuder has taken a lesson from the best of them.

“In the “COD This Week” publication this clown attempts to spin his way out of the facts related to the private membership he has with Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation. (Click here and read highlighted section on Page 3)

Let’s go through the spin cycle step by step!

  • Certain Political Action Groups

Dr. Breuder, although you may think we or For the Good of Illinois, are a political action group we are not.  We are nothing more than citizens that have had enough with the lies, deception, and theft of our tax dollars from local and state government bodies.  I could give a rats back side what political party or affiliation you or any of the board has.  We have outed both Democrats and Republicans the same.  You will be no different.  Corruption knows no party, nor do we.  Attempting to imply that the exposure of illegal spending is political puts you right in the political cross hairs as yet another politician playing games with the truth.

I do like the fact that you pointed out Max McGraw is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which by the way may not be active as a political action group. Considering For the Good of Illinois is a non-profit, non-partisan 501c4 and American Transparency (www.openthebooks.com) is a 501c3.  Neither of them are permitted to be a political action group.   (Click here to For the Good of Illinois mission statement.)

We are a 501(c)(4), which also is not allowed to be a political action group. Is your claim otherwise just an over-site or a blatant lie? The fabrication of information to support a position or cast dispersions on others doesn’t make it true but I suspect you know that all to well.

  • They refer to it has a hunt club

Yes, many people refer to it as a hunt club – his own staff refers to it as a hunt club.  I spent years living just down the road from this very hunt club.  All the locals refereed to it as the Hunt Club.  In fact Dr. Breuder, we have even used the same taxidermist who also refers to it as the hunt club.  Why call it that?  Because locally it is in fact a place, as you admit in your spin, where people can go and hunt.  Many locals bird hunt there regularly.  It is a hunt club and much more.

All that aside, your focus on outlining how great Max McGraw’s Wildlife foundation is, which I agree with, has absolutely  nothing to do with the fact your own attorney has made it very clear that your membership there has nothing to do with COD or your position as COD president.  That fact cannot be retracted as that is exactly what was told to the Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor when you refused to provide the expenditures for your membership.  (Click here for 4 different stories on Breuder membership to Max McGraw)

  •  Some college and university presidents have college-sponsored memberships at country clubs

Yes, and they all have that approval documented in their compensation package and it is included in W-2 information for tax purposes.  The spin is an attempt to justify his private membership to Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation (hunt club), however, to date he has refused to provide one shred of documentation where this has ever been a part of his compensation package and in fact has stayed silent on this matter even after 4 different justifications were presented by his attorney and lead financial executive, of which all the stories were different.  Silence once again speaks volumes!

What is so amazing with this particular spin is the fact on one hand he justifies the use of public funds with this hunt club but on the other he refuses to provide the financial records requested claiming they are not public business.  You can’t have it both ways!

  •  McGraw has available hunting….

Which is why so many people call it a hunt club.

  • Since 2009, $26,133.83 has been spent, in accordance with College protocol

This one should be quite interesting.  He claims that the money spent was in accordance with the College protocol.  Interestingly we have yet to find any “protocol” that allows the spending of funds for his private membership to anything, let alone a hunt club.  In the event one magically appears, I sure hope he is smart enough to know people are talking and we already know that no such “protocol” exists, but we went ahead and asked for it just for the sake of exposing the truth.

Whether it is satellite phones or private memberships, when it is not approved by the board and documented, it is yet another example of how elected officials have lost control of the taxpayers money.  When a guy makes a half a million bucks you would think he could cover his own membership fees and phone charges.

Stay tuned for yet more exposure of wrongdoing being concealed by Dr. Breuder and his puppet board!
