Edgar County Board, feature

Republicans name Ballot Replacement for County Board Seat -

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON September 24, 2014

EDGAR CO. (ECWd) -

The Edgar County Republicans held a meeting Tuesday night and the Committeemen of the vacant county board district voted to bring the name of Andy Patrick to the County Clerk for replacing Dale English on the November ballot. This information was relayed to us by four precinct committeemen that were at last night's meeting.

He was also picked by the Edgar County Committeemen to be the name presented to the Edgar County Board Chairman to appointment for the remainder of Dale English's term that expires in December. The county board chairman recommends a name to fill the vacated seat and the county board approves or rejects it.

LOL, These guys could teach a master’s course in stepping on one’s own dick. Do ya think that Andy still has an interest in Zimmerly Concrete? Don’t get me wrong. Andy is a wonderful guy but this is sure to be met with cries of “blood is thicker than politics”.

As far as the law is written, and we are not attorneys, there is no conflict – even with the liquor license because the Liquor Control Act specifically allows that conflict under the condition he does not participate in discussions or votes on liquor licenses for the county. The board would be smart to just let the Chairman issue them on his own. The Liquor Control Act says the Chairman has that authority, and they should just do it that way instead of the board voting on them.
