Posted at 15:21h, 08 MayCandy Apple: FOR CRIMINAL ACTS! BOTH participated in illegal purchases of sheriff sale of property. It is a crime and is not part of a personnel file. Official misconduct for Burgin & Rogers for violating a persons civil rights. Those are crimes, no matter how much you support them.

Posted at 22:18h, 07 MayA prime example of what happens when prosecutors don’t prosecute. Both should be in jail, and public records prove that. But don’t prosecute, and it comes back like a bad case of the herpes…a gift that keeps on giving.

Posted at 08:29h, 08 MayThey should be in jail for what??? Most people think you should be in jail too but you know what they say about opinions. Maybe you should foia their personnel files. Nothing in them that shows they should be in jail. Seriously, you should keep your personal vendettas separate from what has been proven twice now as wrongful termination.

Posted at 12:25h, 08 MayNo personal vendettas about it. How about we start with taking guns and selling them in Indiana where they are used in crimes, Purchasing a confiscated vehicle (and for less than the county paid to tow and fix it), buying guns from the former sheriff’s illegal gun sales, stealing $43,000 from the county (and only paying it back after getting caught, and at $800 per month). Yes, they and those that assisted them by “sweeping it under the rug” should all be in jail. Just because they weren’t prosecuted doesn’t mean they didn’t do it. This has nothing to do with their termination. They get their jobs back, more power to them on that part. I hope they had plenty of time to think about things.
I have done nothing to warrant being put in jail – not even close. By “most people” you talk about I could probably count on my fingers and still have room for more. Most people…LOL, you’re funny!

Posted at 15:56h, 07 MayI and pleased to hear that Sheriff Motley, has decided to reinstate both of the deputies, to me this speaks highly of a man who keeps his word. Many people including myself didn’t agree with the courts decision, but our judicial system is the best in the world. Even though it may be the best it is far from being perfect. Maybe a higher court would have overturned the decision and maybe it wouldn’t have. It appears to me the court is saying that collective bargaining trumps the merit system. If this is the case then the merit system needs to be dissolved.
It is my understanding that many improvements to the department have been made since the two deputies were terminated. Security items such as more recording cameras were put into place, new locks to secure the confiscated drugs, guns and money and new departmental policies put into writing. Edgar County has years of doing business as ” I’ll do as I please” attitude, it is due time things change and done properly and professionally. Why should we citizens be held accountable to abide by the laws, if our elected officials and there employees aren’t held accountable.
